this was one of a series of concept art for the hobbit i did as an "audition" for a job with the weta design team back in 2006 (though regrettably I never submitted it)

tom the third troll seems to function as the peacemaker between bill [link] and bert [link] , and comes off like a decent enough fellow atleast until the dwarves show up. no trolls are smart, and i love the idea of some of them being REALLY dense, even by troll standards (i had ozzy osbourn's mumbling, barely-able-to-form-a-full-sentence way of talking, and shambling caveman gait very strongly in mind when drawing this) also tom doesnt wear clothes, a thing his brothers(?) dont seem to mind, but a detail the dwarves might find a bit off putting.
