Cat and Lizard

one of a series of illustrations I did for "black jack" a fantasy novel by Andy Witham. the "book" was released exclusively in digital format, and all the illustrations moved (think the constantly moving photographs and paintings in the Harry Potter universe) so many of the pieces I ended up having to draw as individual components that could be manipulated, which in turn were then given to the project animator.

these two are part of a trio our protagonist encounters while on his sojourn through the looking glass, so to speak. I was particularly fond of the lizard, who is described as this salty, one eyed pirate/soldier of fortune type with a near inexhaustible arsenal of exotic cutlery (the crisscrossed over-the-shoulder scimitars with snake headed pommels were my own idea, I'm pleased to say)

the cat was mostly drawn from serval and cheetah influences (he's the cute one of the bunch)
